Cablevision And Sprint Bring Optimum Business Benefits To Nearly 60 New York Metro Area Locations
Cablevision And Sprint Bring Optimum Business Benefits To Nearly 60 New York Metro Area Locations
Bethpage, New York (PRWEB) November 10, 2011
Cablevision Systems Corp. (NYSE: CVC) announced today the extension of its Optimum Business Benefits offer with Sprint (NYSE: S) to nearly 60 Sprint stores in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut. The offer, which includes discounted wireless services and equipment for qualified Optimum Business customers and their employees, is available for purchase in preferred store locations for the first time. Previously, the offer was supported by phone and Web ordering and support.
Each selected Sprint location has undergone specialized training with a dedicated staff that has been trained on the Optimum Business Benefits offer for small business customers in order to provide the best possible experience. Optimum Business customers can view a full list of participating locations by visiting the web portal.
“Expanding our Optimum Business Benefits offer with Sprint to its stores in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut gives our customers the option to shop for wireless services in a way that’s most convenient for them,” said Stephanie Anderson, Vice President of Commercial Marketing for Cablevision. “Together, we are providing an online and offline experience for our Optimum Business customers that lets them conduct initial research online and fulfill their purchase in a store with the guidance and support of trained Sprint personnel who are experts on the Optimum Business Benefits offer.”
“Our small business customers have shared that small business solutions are notoriously complicated and often prefer to meet in person with sales representatives to discuss features or better understand a benefit. By bringing the Optimum Business Benefits program to Sprint locations, we are giving qualified small businesses this ability,” said Sprint Regional Vice President, Keith Dardis. “The Optimum Business Benefits program is a great complement to our Sprint Biz 360 program, which tailors communications packages with cutting edge phones and applications, and unique support from care advocates to help small businesses implement solutions quickly and easily.”
For more details on the Sprint offer and to enroll in the Optimum Business Benefits program, qualified Optimum Business customers can visit the Optimum Business Benefits website, which includes a detailed landing page that explains the program, vendors and registration process. Members will be asked to input their Optimum ID and then will gain immediate access to the offers from the Optimum Business Benefits program.
The Optimum Business Benefits program provides enhanced value for Optimum Business customers that subscribe to both Optimum Voice and Optimum Online. Cablevision’s existing alliance partners: ADP, CardWorks, Citrix Online, Digital Insurance, FedEx, Network Solutions, Sprint and US Business Technology.
Designed for businesses with up to 100 employees that require high-speed Internet and voice communications, Optimum Business provides bottom-line benefits like predictable flat rate pricing and highly reliable voice and data services. HTC EVO 4G Internet Speed Benchmarks
Full review: http://bit.ly/90EJwF. In this video we try to answer the question “Does 4G matter?” as it related to the EVO 4G. Sprint is making a really big deal about the EVO 4G being the first smartphone in America with 4G cellular data, but should that really be a selling point? As you’ll see in this video after taking a look at some of the speeds we clocked with this device, the 4G isn’t really ready for prime time, and if you’re considering this phone, you shouldn’t let the 4G woo you.
In our testing, there are three problems with the 4G:
- The speeds are only about 2x faster than 3G, which doesn’t translate into significantly faster browsing.
- The signal reliability is lower than 3G, meaning that in order to get a fast connection, you need full bars. Also, the strength of the signal doesn’t stay consistent.
- The 4G network is only in a handful of cities right now, and we’re still a couple of years away from ubiquity
Overall, the 4G is nice to have for the future, but it’s not really a compelling feature today.

XOHM WiMAX Broadband Service Debuts in Baltimore
New 4G wireless era dawns as unique business model revolutionizes mobile Internet access
HERNDON, Va.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–
A next-generation 4G wireless network based on mobile WiMAX technology debuted today in Baltimore, heralding the start of a new era for wireless consumers as Sprint (NYSE: S) officially launched XOHM(TM) mobile broadband commercial service in the first major U.S. city.
“This is truly an historic day with the birth of a completely new Internet-based business model that alters the dynamics of the traditional telecom industry,” explained Barry West, president of Sprint’s XOHM business unit. “Wireless consumers will experience WiMAX device and XOHM service innovation on multiple levels as the computer, Internet, telecom and consumer electronics industries converge to redefine wireless mobility.”
XOHM WiMAX will extend the home or office Internet experience and mobile multimedia applications to other places and additional devices. With XOHM, consumers, businesses and local governments will ultimately be able to experience new forms of interactive communications, high-speed mobile Internet browsing, social-networking tools, location-centric services and multimedia including music, video and on-demand products at faster average downlink speeds of 2-4 Mbps. The data-centric XOHM broadband service differs from present wireless offerings in that:
No long-term commitments or contracts are required, freeing customers from restrictive long-term subsidized plans;
Monthly home, on-the-go and day-pass Internet plans provide service choices;
A single monthly charge covers service for multiple WiMAX access devices;
WiMAX devices are purchased like other computing/consumer electronic devices,
XOHM broadband service is self-activated and includes future updates capability;
Customers can enjoy an Internet portal offering enhanced mobile services;
The Open Internet business model transcends other carriers’ wireless walled gardens that restrict services, choice and innovation.
Starting today, customers can purchase XOHM-branded Samsung Express air cards for $59.99 and ZyXEL modems for $79.99 via XOHM web, telesales or select Baltimore-area independent retailers. Additional WiMAX devices such as a ZTE USB modem, Intel Centrino 2 WiMAX notebook PCs and the Nokia N810 WiMAX Edition are expected in market later this year.
Introductory offers allow customers to choose from both daily and month-to-month service options. At launch, mobile WiMAX service plans include a $10 Day pass, $25 monthly Home Internet service and $30 monthly On-the-go service. Special launch pricing includes a $50 “Pick 2 for Life” monthly service option covering two different WiMAX devices. Visit www.xohm.com to view the current XOHM WiMAX coverage area, details of the introductory broadband service offerings and device sales information.
XOHM subscribers will be given free access to a unique and customizable Web site, called MyXOHM, focusing primarily on local services and entertainment content, as well as providing security services, hosted storage and interactive communications. After choosing preferences, subscribers will have their content pushed to a customized and location-aware portal via small digestible widgets.
XOHM continues to work with WiMAX ecosystem partners and others to incorporate WiMAX technology in a range of computing, portable multimedia, interactive and other business and consumer electronic devices, including the availability of XOHM WiMAX in vehicles for navigation information, news and entertainment.
Sprint will be the first and only national wireless carrier to offer customers a dual-mode 3G – 4G device that extends the power of Sprint’s NOW network. Expected to launch in the fourth quarter, this Sprint device will operate on the nation’s largest 3G mobile broadband network and the 4G network in Baltimore and other markets as WiMAX service becomes available.

Is Your Cell Phone Bugged?
This short video explores ways to determine if your cell phone has been compromised to act as a bug. While it’s obviously unlikely that this would happen to most people, it was recently revealed that the FBI has used this technique, and just as illicit wiretaps are possible, illicit cell phone bugging could also occur.
