Free Broadband Internet Access Available now in Most Areas

Wenatchee, WA (PRWEB) December 13, 2005

Most people don’t know anyone who is currently getting “HiSpeed” internet access for nothing. In fact, most of us don’t think free broadband internet access exists. So does it?

The answer is yes. Internet service providers (ISPs) don’t want it to be known, and for good reason. They know that folks don’t pay for a service they can get for free.

“People need to know all their options before they decide to pay for Hi-Speed internet access,” says Allan Christopher, Public Affairs Director for BB Communications. “They need to know what their choices are before they decide to buy it and most people don’t know that free broadband internet access is widely available today.”

In fact, according to a recent report from the U.S. Department of Commerce, About 32% of United States households have never had an internet connection of any kind. When asked, a large number of people in these households indicated that the key reason they’ve never been online is that it is “too expensive”.

Many people that are already online believe that the only way to get fast internet access for free is to illegally “hack” into a cable modem, DSL modem, or other piece of electronic equipment to somehow defeat its security measures. “That couldn’t be further from the truth”, Allan explains, acknowledging that this is a common misconception.

He says that his organization is working hard to dispel these myths. “it’s about time the truth gets out there. Everyone should know about the availability of fast free internet access so they can make an informed decision about it.”

2SER RADIO \ NSW PRISONERS TO GET INTERNET ACCESS?

Both major political parties in NSW have agreed to look favorably at a radical proposal to allow prisoners to use computers and the internet. The lobby group Justice Action says the two parties have joined the Greens in offering cautious backing for the proposal which would provide limited internet access for inmates. Currently almost half of all prisoners re-offend and return to jail within two years Justice Action believes computers in cells would promote rehabilitation and reduce re-offending. 2ser’s Brit-Helen Johansen spoke to the coordinator of Justice Action Brett Collins – 18 March 2011

Best answer:

Answer by mattymakespeace
You are charged if you go over the 500 MB…Downloading the app takes a huge chunk of usage! Using the application can and probably will use web! ”Full internet access” means the application needs to have full access to your ”data” or as you call it web in order for it to function correctly! Most applications will warn you that it may consume a lot of data usage! Honestly Android phones in my opinion need Unlimited Data…How much you are charged for overage will depend on your carrier! Where I work (Sprint) it is .03 per Kilobyte! But we only offer unlimited web packages! If your downloading a game..More then likely it is going to consume a lot of data! Be careful..It will eat your bill up! I see it everyday lol!

Hilton Atlanta Connects With Guest2Net? From PossibleNOW; Hotel Guests Enjoy High Speed Internet Access In All Guest Rooms & Public Areas

ATLANTA, GA (PRWEB) August 5, 2004

PossibleNOW, the provider of Guest2Net high speed Internet access solutions for the hospitality industry, announces that Hilton Atlanta has implemented the Guest2Net service at its property. Hilton Atlanta, a premier convention hotel, now offers high speed wireless Internet access in all of its 1,224 guest rooms as well as in its public areas, lounges and restaurants.

With the Guest2Net solution, hotel guests enjoy the flexibility offered by wireless Internet connectivity. Guests can use their notebook computers anywhere in their room and are not confined to their desk area. Wireless access in the hotelÂ?s lounges and restaurants let guests use their computer while they enjoy a snack or meal.

Â?For business travelers, the ability to stay connected to their office is essential,Â? says Brian Evans, Director of Front Office and Guest Relations at Hilton Atlanta. Â?The hotel offers a wealth of amenities for the business traveler. Adding Guest2NetÂ?s wireless high speed Internet access also positions our hotel as a desired choice in the highly competitive corporate meeting and convention market.Â?

Evans continues, Â?Hilton Atlanta presented PossibleNOW with several challenges. Our property is large. We had meeting rooms with wired Internet access. And, we had to figure out how to interface the wireless Internet access system with our property management system.Â?

PossibleNOWÂ?s Guest2Net met these challenges.

Â?Guest2NetÂ?s wireless 802.11b technology gave Hilton Atlanta a solution that kept installation costs down despite the size and layout of the hotel,Â? states Michael Boone, Vice President and General Manager of the High Speed Internet Access division at PossibleNOW. Â?We customized the Guest2Net solution so the hotel could leverage the existing Internet access in their meeting rooms. And, we interfaced their property management system with Guest2Net so they could manage guest access for wireless Internet applications. Hilton Atlanta was the first Hilton property with this capability.Â?

Boone points out that PossibleNOW offers a total solution. Â?PossibleNOW handles the technical support should guests at the Hilton Atlanta have any questions or experience a problem. This takes the burden off the hotel staff and provides guests with prompt, pleasant assistance.Â?

Guest2Net offers both wireless and wired high speed Internet access solutions to fit the needs of a variety of hotel and resort properties. Other services include print solutions, customized web portals, network integration, and site maintenance. What happened to Free Internet Access?

]]>

When Did Free Internet Access Start?

The concept of Free Internet Access started way back in 1998. Soon there dozens of free Internet service providers boasting millions of registered users. Names such as FreeWWWeb, Free Internet, WorldSpy, NetZero, Juno, Kmart’s BlueLight, American Express AMEXOL, just to name a few.

How Did Free Internet Access Work?

With most free Internet access providers, you had a floating advertising banner on your screen while you were online. Some of them made you click on an advertisement periodically or they disconnect you. The free ISP received advertising and e-commerce revenues to help offset the costs of providing the free Internet access.

FreeWWWeb & WorldSpy were fast, reliable, highly rated Nationwide Free ISPs that didn’t require a floating advertising bar. I tried many of these free Internet service providers myself for several months and was very satisfied with their performance and reliability.

How Was Free Internet Access Marketed?

FreeInternet.com, a popular free ISP, spent over 89 million dollars in venture capital on operational losses and advertising campaigns. FreeInternet’s advertising campaigns included a television commercial staring basketball star Shaquille O’Neal and Baby Bob, an animated baby character.

Kmart and American Express also spent millions of dollars marketing their free Internet services. Kmart distributed millions of BlueLight free Internet CDs through it’s large network of retail stores.

What Happened?

Unfortunately, at least for free Internet access customers, all good things come to an end and free Internet providers proved to be no exception. The advertising and e-commerce supported free Internet access model collapsed more rapidly than ENRON.

By July of 2000 virtually all the free Internet service providers had filed for bankruptcy, shut down or discontinued offering free Internet access.

Kmart even discontinued it’s popular BlueLight free Internet service and started referring it’s existing free ISP customers to NetZero.

Did Any Free ISPs Survive?

NetZero and Juno were exceptions, they continued to provide advertising and commerce supported free Internet access. They also acquired certain assets and customers of FreeInternet.com, FreeWWWeb.com & WorldSpy.com now defunct free ISPs.

As time passed NetZero and Juno limited their free Internet service in an attempt to entice their existing customers to switch to one of their paid Internet access plans. Soon after NetZero joined forces with Juno to form the company United Online.

Can I Still Get Free Internet Service?

As of September 11, 2009 when this link was last checked, NetZero Free Internet was still offering 10 hours per month of dial up free Internet access.

NetZero 10 Free Hours / Month 10 free hours of web surfing Free 1 GB email account Spam and email virus protection Thousands of local access numbers

The rest of the former free ISPs have either been acquired by other companies or been converted to fee for service ($ $ $ ) Internet service providers.

Are There Low Cost Alternatives?

Basically there are two options when it comes to cheap Internet access. You can choose a low cost dial up or high speed broadband service provider.

Dial Up Internet Access Lowest cost Single computer Light to moderate use Ties up a phone line Slow download speeds

If you need light to moderate Internet access on a single computer, then standard or accelerated dial up Internet access is the cheaper option and provides reasonable service for a lower cost.

If you choose one of the inexpensive dial-up Internet providers that we feature. You’ll receive dependable dial up Internet service for the lowest monthly cost.

High Speed Internet Access Higher cost Multiple computers Heavy use Doesn’t tie up a phone line Fast download speeds

If you want to connect multiple computers to the Internet simultaneously or are a heavy Internet user, then you should consider upgrading to a broadband high speed connection.

Anyone who has surfed the net using a traditional dial up Internet connection is aware of how painfully slow web pages seem to load. Broadband high speed Internet access is extremely fast and increasingly becoming a virtual necessity in today’s high tech society.

ISP 1 suggests that you try one of our low cost high speed Internet providers that meets your Broadband needs and expectations. You’ll receive blazing fast, reliable high speed Internet service for a reasonable monthly cost.

When talking about increasing “access” to our bureaucrats x, y or z, what they really talking about is exponentially its control over our lives. What about the government’s health service is over, is to “increase” with the newly approved State Plan for Internet access. “Call it WebCare.

I Cannot Access “My Computer” or “Internet Explorer” from My Account?

by Jeffrey Keefer

Question by Genesiss: I Cannot Access “My Computer” or “Internet Explorer” from My Account?
For some strange reason, when I log in on my account, I click on “My Computer” the cursor quickly turns to an hourglass, but nothing appears. The same thing happens when I try to access “Internet Explorer”. When I go onto other accounts, everything works fine, just my account doesn’t. I recently downloaded a PS emulator for my computer and when I finished configuring everything, I clicked on “Insert CD-ROM” and the screen went all black. So, I just turned my computer off by holding the button and now, when I go back to my account, I can’t access “My Computer” and my account also begins to freeze. I am wondering if it is the emulator or not because I have already deleted all the files from my computer. If that isn’t the problem, could someone try and help me!?!

Best answer:

Answer by prince14
Sounds like something has screwed up ur account settings, either a virus or a program. The easiest thing to do would be to save all your files by browsing the hard drive from an administrator account, then deleting ur user account and creating a new one and put all ur files in there. You could also try the system restore function, (under accessories then system tools on the start menu) restore the system to a date before ur account messed up

Hope that helped!
